The Guideline Aura #56 Fly Reel is a precision-engineered fly reel designed for New Zealand trout fishing. Built for balance, durability, and smooth performance, it’s an excellent choice for anglers targeting brown and rainbow trout across rivers, lakes, and backcountry water.
Available in Blue and Bronze, the Aura #56 pairs perfectly with #5, #6, and #7 weight fly rods, making it a versatile reel for most freshwater fly fishing situations in NZ.

The Aura series represents a refined approach to fly reel design — delivering exactly what’s required, with no excess. The Aura #56 is lightweight yet strong, providing excellent balance with modern graphite fly rods commonly used in New Zealand.
Precision CNC-machined from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum, the reel offers outstanding corrosion resistance for use in alpine rivers, braided systems, and large lakes.
Large Arbor Fly Reel with Closed Frame
The large arbor design allows for faster line retrieval and improved line control when playing strong trout in fast-flowing water. A carefully optimized spool width ensures smooth, even line lay, while the full-frame construction prevents thin shooting lines or monofilament nymph lines from slipping between the spool and frame — ideal for NZ-style nymphing and long leaders.
Refined capacity keeps the reel light and responsive without sacrificing strength.
Smooth Drag & Easy Retrieve Conversion
The Aura #56 features a smooth, easily adjustable drag system that protects light tippets while maintaining control over powerful fish. Supplied set up for left-hand retrieve, the reel can be quickly converted to right-hand retrieve using a flat-head screwdriver.
Each reel is supplied in a padded nylon reel pouch for protection during transport and storage.

When will my order be shipped?
All items will ship within 2-3 business days in New Zealand, 5-10 business days in Australia and rest of the world. Weekends orders will be shipped out on Monday. We cannot guarantee next day delivery but try to offer the quickest service available to us.
